Wakumi is a creator, mother, survivor, social justice leader, organizer, master facilitator, restorative justice, curator and ritualist. As the daughter of an undocumented immigrant who served 33 years in prison and a servant-leader, God-fearing mother, Tanisha “Wakumi” Douglas has dedicated 20 years in social justice movements to creating healing spaces for those impacted by mass incarceration and other oppressive systems. Wakumi has raised over $8 million as founding executive director of national abolitionist youth organization and won competitive leadership fellowships including the Soros Justice Fellowship & Move to End Violence fellowship. She has also worked with numerous organizations as a liberatory transformation coach, facilitator & consultant. She is currently focused on writing, deepening her practice in the sacred arts, and curating healing & spiritual experiences for social justice movement leaders through her recent project, The Givers Revival.
